TRE
TRE® (Tension & Trauma Releasing Exercises) is a series of exercises designed to gently activate the body’s natural reflex mechanism of shaking. This tremoring and vibrating of the muscles releases muscular tension thereby calming the nervous system.
TRE® is based on the fundamental idea, backed by research, that stress, tension and trauma are both psychological and physical. This practice is a great tool that you can use on your own (in a safe and controlled environment) to assist the body in releasing emotions, stressors or traumas stored in the body as muscle tension to help it return to a balanced and calm state.
The exercises are similar to gentle yoga, some postures are held for a few minutes.
